How we Assess Impact

Bowman Academy

Measuring the Impact of Our Careers Programme

At Bowman, we are committed to ensuring that our careers programme has a real, positive impact on all our students. We use a combination of tools and methods to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve our provision:
1. Student Progress and Destination Tracking
We track students’ pathways after leaving school, including further education, apprenticeships, training, or employment. This helps us understand how effectively our programme prepares pupils for the next steps in their careers.

2. Student Voice
We gather feedback directly from students through surveys, focus groups, and tools like Compass+ to assess how useful and engaging they find our careers activities. This ensures that our provision meets the needs of all learners.

3. SEND and Inclusion Monitoring
We regularly review how our careers programme supports students with SEND or additional needs, ensuring that activities are inclusive, accessible, and tailored where necessary.

4. Staff, Parent, and Employer Feedback
We collect feedback from staff, parents, and employers to help shape and refine our provision, making sure that it stays relevant and effective.

5. Gatsby Benchmark Audits and Governance Oversight
We review our programme against the nationally recognised Gatsby Benchmarks to ensure we meet the highest standards. Outcomes and progress are reported to governors annually to maintain oversight and accountability.

At Bowman Academy, our careers programme is built on the eight Gatsby Benchmarks and the Careers Development Institute framework, which guide the design and delivery of all career-related activities. We use the Compass+ online evaluation tool to assess the effectiveness of our provision. This widely used platform helps schools and colleges in England analyse and evaluate careers activity against the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring our careers strategy remains dynamic and continually improving. We carry out benchmarking against the Gatsby Benchmarks to monitor progress and identify areas for further development.
