Bowman Academy supports ‘Cash for Kids’

‘Cash for Kids’ is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK from the moment they’re born up to and including the age of 18.
Their mission is to help combat poverty, illness and neglect, making living with additional needs that little bit easier, or simply offering a helping hand.
Raising £21.4 million in 2024, supporting 509,580 children, Bowman Academy wanted to help.
Breakfast Show Presenters from Hits Radio visited the school to join the pupils on their ‘Walk Around the World’ activities.
Head of School, Toby Ellis said: “We are proud to support Cash for Kids. We have completed it in our own special way, as each of our classes are named after an author, to bring the love of reading back to school. Each class from Bowman Academy has today walked the distance from school to the birthplace of their class name author. I’d like to specifically thank our Outdoor Education Lead Tom Kirkby, who has been instrumental in organising everything so that the day has run smoothly.”
Tom Kirkby added: “I’m so proud of our pupils. They really took to the fundraiser and enjoyed their charity walks, even walking in the shape of a bow – because of our school’s name – Bowman Academy. As a school, we have completed 2,378,646 steps and raised £75 for ‘Cash for Kids’ in the coming days. Thank you to all who supported.”
Classes Dunmore and Donaldson (years 2, 3 and 4), and Dahl and Dickens (years 4, 5 and 6) all completed their walks during the morning.
Darwin and Doyle (pupils from year 6 and 7) then took part in a warmup with Jo and Sparky from the Hits Radio Breakfast Show, before embarking on their walk in the afternoon.
